Since joining Lopata, Flegel & Company LLP in 2026, Emily has brought 17 years of tax experience to the firm. Prior to joining the firm as a Tax Manager, she spent many years at a larger firm, developing extensive experience in tax compliance and advisory services. Today, clients rely on Emily for thoughtful guidance and trusted tax expertise.
Emily’s passion for accounting began at an early age. “Growing up, accounting was always something I was interested in. My mom bought me a fake cash register, and I would run fake businesses.”
By the time she reached college, her career path was already clear. “I took a personal finance class in high school, and I was really good at it. When I got to college, I knew I wanted to major in Accounting and Finance.”
Beyond her technical skills, Emily is passionate about her clients’ success. She especially enjoys building lasting relationships with business owners and families while serving as their trusted advisor throughout different stages of their growth. “My favorite part of working with clients is the relationships I build with them.”
Her approach to building long-term client relationships is simple. “A lot of it is just being responsive when a client needs you.”
Emily earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Culver-Stockton College.
